The story slowly worked up to it with a lot of good deeds throughout the series. With all that in mind, here are ten good things Zuko did before he joined Team Avatar.

This episode really stood up out in the entire series not just because it was well written, but because its the only episode where Team Avatar does not make an appearance. The focus is just on Zuko, and he is without his typical moral compass . . . Iroh.

Zhao was always a worse man than Zuko. He was an adult who was drawn to war and also was after the Avatar. He captures Aang in the episode, "The Blue Spirit."

In that episode, the Blue Spirit saves Aang from Zhao. It is later discovered that the Blue Spirit is Zuko. At that time though, a lot of fans figured he freed Aang just to make sure it was not Zhao who got him. However, it was a good deed anyway.

Even though Zuko had yet to join Team Avatar, he did fight Azula by their side. This is because Azula struck Iroh with lightning. Zuko immediately reacts against her. He forgets about all things except for protecting and avenging his uncle, even if it means teaming up with his own enemies against his sister.

Next to Zuko, Iroh is also a major fan favorite. When the two are together, they are great foils of each other"s personalities. Zuko is young and impatient while Iroh is the opposite. Despite their differences though, the two greatly care for each other.

A lot of Zuko"s goodness can be seen when he helps with his uncles" tea shop. He cares about Iroh"s happiness and respects his advice enough to give up his chase of Aang for a while.

This is what led to Zuko getting his scar in the first place. He joins a war table meeting with his father and other generals. In their meeting, they suggest using young and inexperienced soldiers as bait while the older and more experienced veterans work.
