hey,i should replace my stock alternator ~ above a 1989 300ce, the voltage regulator didnt help .im not familiar with the german serpentine belt tensioners,what carry out i should do to loosen up the tensioner in order to acquire the serpentine belt off the alternator pulley,any details would it is in great,thanks.marc

Loosen yet don"t remove the facility bolt top top the tensioner, it will certainly be a 19mm or a 10mm allen key head bolt.Back turn off tensioner rod. Pull on belt until you have sufficient movement to remove the belt.

thanks so lot for all the pics and diagrhams,by the way your mercedes look at hot,i think what ns will do is follow the advice the loosening the 19mm bolt on the facility of the tensioner,then ease the 12 mm threaded stud,i will certainly then shot to wiggle the left or right,then pull under on the belt come loosen sufficient slack to eliminate the alternator,i need to reinstal a reman bosch alt 70 amp,the voltage regulator no work and also the brand new battery is currently dead,im hoping as soon as i download the new alternator it placing out around 13.9 volts rather of 10 volts and also dropping.thanks guys.marc
my son was may be to replace his alternator top top a 300e merely by loosening and removing the alternator itself.... He never ever touched the belt tensioner.

,i have managed to loosen up the 12mm threaded rod that runs under to the belt tensioner,but im likewise aware over there is a bolt the runs thru the center of the tensioner,someone called me it to be 20mm,i discovered that 15mm fit that ok,im having actually a difficult time trying to ease the belt,see over there is a protective metal half sleeve the covers the outer edge the the bolt,and i have huge fingers,is over there a special tool i can obtain to ease up the tensioner,its icy cold and also ive been working in the snow on the cold ground,id like to rate things increase a bit if possible,thanks guys.marc

well ns tell girlfriend what v this bitter cold snowy weather i simply may try that,i just just began work ~ above it,i have the top 13 mm bolt out of the akternator nothe bottom is giving me a tough time,i dont understand why they put them half circle protective steel sleeved roughly the bolts,but i need to however a new 6 allude socket and try it,then perhaps i will acquire it on with out messing with that pain in the ass tensioner,oh ns love general motors tensioners so much better,lol.thanks guys.marc
