Last year, Auburn had a chance to derail Alabama’s national championship season but fell short 21-26. This year, Alabama looks to put a scare in Auburn’s title chances.

It’s the first time since 2005 that both Alabama and Auburn enter the game ranked in the AP Poll. It’s the 17th time all-time that both teams come into the Iron Bowl ranked. In such meetings, the team with the higher ranking has a record of 8-8.
Alabama is 7-1 when entering the Iron Bowl as defending National Champions. Their only loss was in 1993, when Auburn beat the Tide 22-14.
Auburn has a record of 6-1 vs. Alabama in Tuscaloosa going back to 1893 and a record of 4-1 since 2000.

Auburn has a record of 4-2 (since 1948) in the Iron Bowl when they come into the game undefeated. The Tigers lost to undefeated Alabama teams in 1971 and 1994.
